Who hasn’t tried pizza yet? A tasty, cheesy and an all time favourite dish of New York is Pizza. Lunch or dinner, you can have it whenever you want. New York-style pizza is traditionally hand-tossed, consisting in its basic form of a light layer of tomato sauce sprinkled with dry, grated, full-fat mozzarella cheese; additional toppings are placed over the cheese.

Even though this dish is the traditional dish of Malaysia, you’ll find Nasi lemak at many places in New York. It is fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf, served with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, lamb curry, cucumber, and sambal.

Ramen is a Japanese dish made with wheat noodles in a meat or fish-based hot broth and is typically flavoured with soy sauce, miso, or garlic oil and heightened with toppings like sliced pork belly, dried seaweed, bamboo shoots and soft-boiled egg.
Another favourite dish of people who visit New York is the bagel, a ring-shaped dough topped with poppy seeds, toasted sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion and salt. The dough of bagel is first boiled and then baked which makes is crispy yet soft.

A dish found everywhere in New York, hot dogs are made of ground pork, beef or both, these are flavoured sausages with garlic, mustard and nutmeg before being encased, cured, smoked and cooked.

A classic sandwich, perfect for lunch, is made using rye bread, pastrami, corned beef, cole slaw, and Russian dressing.
8. Cheese Cake
Could anything be more creamily delicious? New York cheesecake is known for its simplicity, perfect texture and taste i.e, creamy and perfectly sweetened. A three layered dessert made with biscuits as the base layer, cream cheese as the second layer and the top layer is usually of some fruit.
Known by different names around the globe, Knishes are dough balls stuffed with potatoes, cheese, beans or any other stuffing. Usually found in the areas with dense Jewish population.
A type of Italian ice cream which you’ll find in New York, it is made with layers of different colors and flavors, usually containing candied fruits and nuts. Spumoni, a tricolored dessert is made with pistachio, cherry/strawberry and chocolate/vanilla which gives it a reddish-pink combination along with green and brown.
11. Black and White Cookie
A sponge cake rather than biscuit, these cookies are found in local bakeries which are half black and half white. These are soft, delectable cookies with vanilla on one side and icing on the other.
A type of sandwich which is not only famous in New York, but also in many places around the globe. It consists of a patty made with ground meat along with lettuce, onions and tomatoes placed inside the bread.
13. Fried Chicken ‘n’ Waffle
A must try dish, often served with honey and chilli sauce. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy which if you try once, you’ll want it again and again.
Falafels are patties made with chickpeas and they are eaten with pita bread, mayonnaise, onion, lettuce and other additions. These are really tasty and liked by people of every age group.

A food rich in protein, it is made with octopus cooked along with thyme, garlic, peppercorns, olives black pepper and salt. A bit chewy but delicious dish which you can count on anytime.

A mouth watering dessert made with braided dough filled with chocolate, it’s surely worth trying.
